My subs (infinty reference 1260w) they have sound but its really distorted.?

they have sound but its really distorted. im pretty sure i blew them but just in case. its kind of a crackling noise. it skips vocals. but the b still hits pretty good. it hits and stops immediately. it doesn't hit and fade like normally. i had the gain all the way up and now no subs for me.. so if you can help that would be nice. i dont want to throw away a brand new set of subs that i bought a week ago.
