Drivers License Suspended In Ontario, But Can I Write My Beginners (G1)?

I had my license in Ontario suspended 5 years ago for an impaired charge. At the time I only had my G2 so now my license is expired and I am required to write my beginners and wait the 1 year before I can take my G2 drivers test. Currently my license is also labeled as suspended because I have yet to complete a "Back On Track" program that is mandatory for impaired driving charges and the program will take 6 months before I complete it and can have my license officially reinstated. Since getting my G1 does not require me to drive is it possible for me to get it while I am technically not allowed to drive? Or am I going to have to wait until I finish the "Back On Track" program before I am allowed to write my G1 (Beginners)? Anyone? Thanks
