Every time i change the stings on my fender strat, the bridge rises up. why does this happen?

When you change strings don't take all the old strings off. replace the strings one at a time. The bridge is setup to handle a certain amount of tension and if you take all the strings off it throws off the balance causing your action to raise and the intonation will be off.
